Simultaneously Delicious and Poisonous

Pass the candy around

The delicious and poisonous

Addictive, too

Feed them to lift them up or to tear them down

Either way, we’re not responsible for what the candy’s done

“Smarthead,” said the candy

“You’re graceful,” it said again

Dazzled by the taste

They wished it lingered for as long as they pleased

Some spat it out for they knew taste could be deceiving

The spitters thanked for the taste of the candy

But there were things better than the candy

The suckers’ minds were tangled

The chemicals worked down the way to their head and settled

Murdering their desire to rise higher, shine better

The candy was all sucked up, ran out

The suckers looked around

Merely looked around
